Academic Advising

Academic Advising

Success Starts With Your Advisor

Regularly connecting with an advisor is a vital step for students who wish to complete a certificate or degree.

Advising helps you to determine:

  • Your academic goals
  • Advantageous course sequencing
  • Plan for your future

Meet with your advisor at least once a semester prior to registering to prevent problems and graduation delays.

Advisors help with:

  • Selecting courses
  • Writing petitions and appeals
  • Monitoring progress towards graduation
  • Finding career information
  • Financial aid
  • Academic accommodations for students who experience disabilities

Initially, all students wishing to pursue a degree or vocational certificate meet with a Student and Enrollment Services advisor. You may drop in or make an appointment to see Kim Frost by calling Student and Enrollment Services at 235-1651. Once committed to a program, you may be assigned to a faculty advisor.

Important Note

Knowing and meeting your degree requirements is your responsibility. Students who visit their advisor regularly graduate sooner and with less credits than students who self-advise.
