Registering for Classes

Registering for Classes

You can register for classes online at UAOnline or in person at Student and Enrollment Services.

Important: If you change your mind about taking a class after you have registered, you must complete a drop form.  If you do not drop a class prior to the drop deadline you will receive a letter grade of 'F' and still be responsible for the cost of the class!

How can I find what classes are offered and when they are offered?

How do I read the schedule? The Registration screen is asking for “CRN’s,” what are they?

  • Every class in the UA system is assigned a Course Reference Number, or CRN. This five-digit number is needed in order to register into that class. The CRN is the first number listed in the schedule for each class.
  • The room number, meeting day or days, and meeting time are listed after the course title. For example:
What you'll see What is that? Example
CRN Course Reference Number 76373
Dept Academic Department COMM
Nmbr Course Number A111
Sec Section Number R10
Course Title Course Title (from catalog) Fundamentals of Oral Comm.
Instr Instructor Graber, E

Rm# Room where class meets 115
Day Days of week when class meets MW
Begins Time of day when class begins 2:30p
Ends Time of day when class ends 3:45p
Fee Fee associated with the class None

  • The number A111 indicates that this is a UAA course. (Classes originating from UAF or UAS are preceded by an F or an S respectively.

How do I know how much my classes and fees will cost?

The course schedule lists the tuition and fees for that semester. Also, once you have registered: Go back to the Registration screen and click on Registration Fee Assessment.

What if I need to drop a class?

  • Be aware of drop and withdrawal and refund deadlines
  • Speak with your instructor.
  • See your advisor and make sure you understand how dropping the class will affect your financial aid for the current and future semesters.

TIP: SPEAK WITH YOUR INSTRUCTOR OR ADVISOR AS SOON AS YOU KNOW YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE WITH A CLASS! THEY CAN OFTEN HELP!
