KRC Student Union

The KRC Student Union serves as a voice for KPC students at the Kenai River Campus. All students are encouraged to get involved and attend KRCSU weekly meetings. Bring your questions and ideas to the student body and join the action!

Join the KRC Student Union!

The KPC Student Union represents the student body statewide with the UA Coalition of Student Leaders, advocating for students on campus and within the UA system, and is available and eager to carry the student voice to the community. Student fees support the student union, and activities are coordinated and held to enrich campus life. Monthly and seasonal events are organized for the enjoyment of all students, fundraisers for scholarships and legislative action are held and Student Union officers coordinate community-wide student discount programs. Students are encouraged to get involved as representatives.

The Student Union provides opportunities to gain leadership skills and experience by providing you the opportunity to represent fellow students and to make a difference on campus by giving input regarding changes in policies, procedures, programs, etc. You can also gain recognition, improve your self-image, increase personal growth, and learn how to work as a member of a team. Training and workshops provide knowledge of parliamentary procedures, the legislative and budgetary process, advocating skills, problem-solving, and business/communication skills.

Find out more about student government on campus and see what events are coming up by contacting the KRCSU at 262-0339 for more information or following the group on Facebook and Twitter.

The KRCSU meets at 3:15 p.m., every other Wednesday, in the McLane Commons, starting Sept. 5.

Be a Representative

KRC students are encouraged to get involved in the Student Union by becoming a student representative. KRCSU student reps are students appointed by an office of the Student Union to serve as a voice of the student body. For more information about how to become a representative, contact the KRCSU at 262-0339.

Vice President: Dennis Sweitzer

I'm Dennis Sweitzer and I am the vice president of the KRC Student Union. I just started my second year at KPC. I plan to transfer to UAF for electrical engineering next fall. I grew up in Valdez then moved to Las Vegas when I was 14. After six years I moved to Soldotna for college.

As Vice President, I hope to assist both my colleagues in their work. My job involves mostly paperwork and behind the scenes jobs, so I have plenty of time to help in my co-worker's projects.

Eric McKamy headshotActivities Coordinator: Eric McKamy

My name is Eric McKamy. I am the KRCSU marketer and student activities, coordinator. This is my third year at KPC. I have been working toward a two-year associate of arts degree, but have switched gears and am now seeking a bachelors in applied sciences with an end goal of becoming a pilot.

As the student activities coordinator, I hope to schedule and achieve more events that involve students, such as food events and socials, and more open mic nights. I am open to any and every suggestion for these events, so please don't hesitate to float them all my way.
