Campus Safety

Safety is everybody's business.

Campus Safety

Police officers stand around image of college logo All KPC campuses and sites work with local law enforcement agencies to minimize criminal activity. It is important that when students, staff, faculty or visitors have any safety concerns or witness any crime or breach of the college Code of Conduct they contact KPC leadership or other college employees immediately. If there are no college employees available, the local police should be notified.

Campuses are accessible to members of the public during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, and for limited hours on Saturday and Sunday, while classes are in session. During semester breaks, hours of access are reduced but are posted at the entrances. Most buildings are closed to all but faculty and staff for holidays.

Crime Prevention and Personal Safety Tips

  • Be Informed
    • Know campus emergency numbers before you need them.
    • Program emergency numbers into your cell phone.
    • Learn about campus safety services.
  • Be Alert
    • Pay attention to your surroundings.
    • Leave a situation immediately if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
    • Always report any crime or suspicious activity to KPC leadership or your local police department.
  • Be Prepared for Emergencies
    • Know how to quickly exit your office and building.
    • Leave the building immediately EVERY TIME an alarm sounds.
    • Have a plan if you have mobility difficulties or if you work with a colleague who does.
  • Be Smart
    • Lock your vehicle every time you leave it.
    • Don't leave personal belongings unattended while on campus.
    • Lock your office or your residence hall room or apartment every time you leave - no matter how short a time.

UAA provides Campus Security Reports for KRC and KBC that include campus crime statistics for the three most current years; campus security measure; crime reporting and alert procedures; crime prevention strategies and educational programs; the sexual offenses policy, complaint procedures, and disciplinary actions for violations of alcohol and other drug policies.
