Byrd holds a Bachelor of Arts in both Political Science and Geography. She also has her Master's of Science in Higher Education Leadership from Northeastern State University, magna cum laude (2012). She has a diverse range of skills resulting from her 14+ years of Residence Life/Student Housing experience. Those skills include student staff training and supervision, risk management, emergency response, programming, adult basic education, student behavioral response, facilities and conference management, and conference work (as host, presenter, and delegate). She serves, as needed, on many KPC/UAA committees including Scholarship, BIT, Recruitment and Marketing, New Student Orientation, Diversity Action Council, Recycling, and Staff Forum. Other relevant training includes Safe Zone Trainer, CERT Trainer, ALICE trainer, CPR, and Psychological First Aid.

I provide student support in navigating KPC Processes (admissions, registration, testing, advising, transition support, etc). This includes assisting Jumpstart, new, and transfer students. Continuing or returning students are also welcome to contact me for assistance. I connect students to campus resources and provide guidance and success coaching.
I am the Diversity and Inclusion Liaison for KPC Student Services. I advise the LGBTQ Alliance and Pride activities and provide multicultural student assistance. I also give campus tours.
