Registration will open on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 8:00 am AKDT. Please have your payment method ready. Do not select a payment method besides credit card payment. Your payment is due at the time of registration to secure your spot.

If you are unable to get a seat when registration opens, please call 907-262-0318 to request a spot on the waitlist. If you are unable to speak to a person, please leave a voicemail with your name and phone number and which class dates you prefer and you will be added to the waitlist in the order that your call was received.

Reserving Seats

  • Online registration is first come, first served.
  • There are 2 classes with 28 seats per class.

If you have questions about this process, contact the KRGA Coordinator, Kenai Peninsula College at (907) 262-0318.

Waitlist

When a class reaches maximum enrollment, it is listed as “FULL”.  Kenai River Guide Academy courses offer a waitlist option to allow you to wait for a seat in the class if someone drops.

How do I get on a waitlist?

If you want to be added to the waitlist for a full class:

  • If the class is full, you may request to be added to the waitlist.
  • No payment will be taken at that time.  If a seat becomes available, you will be contacted and payment will be taken at that time.
  • You may call the KRGA Coordinator at 907-262-0318 with questions.
  • You will be placed on the list in the order your request is received.

What happens next?

If a seat becomes available in the class and your name is at the top of the waitlist, you will receive a phone call to your preferred contact information.   You will have a certain amount of time to respond, depending on proximity to the class start date.

What if I miss the e-mail or cannot register within the time allowed?

If you do not register for the class within the timeframe indicated, your name will be removed from the waitlist and the next student is given the option to register.  You may add yourself back on to the waitlist, and you will be notified again if a space becomes available.

Am I charged tuition for a waitlisted course?

No, you will be charged only if a spot becomes available and you enroll.

How long should I wait for a space to open in a class?

You can add yourself to the waitlist until the class begins. Being on the waitlist does not guarantee you a seat in the class.

Show up on time the first day or lose your seat

Kenai Rier Guide Academy is hosted at Kenai Peninsula College's Kenai River Campus located at 156 College Road in Soldotna, AK. On the first day of class, all guides are required to be in the classroom by 8:00 am. If you are not present by 8:30 am, your seat will be offered to those on the waiting list in the order by which they were placed on the list. If you show up after 8:30 am, you will be unable to take the course that week. We will offer to put you in a different class, if there is vacancy, or place you on the waiting list.

Cancellations

If you are unable to make the class you are registered for, contact us immediately. We must receive a minimum of 30 days advance notice of cancellation for you to request a refund. If you cancel, your seat will be given to a person on the waiting list. Seats cannot be sold. When you cancel, you need to inform us of the next class you are interested in. If there are no seats in that class, you will have a choice of adding yourself to the wait list, or requesting a refund of the course fee.

Guides are university students and personally responsible for registering or dropping this class.

The Federal Family Education and Privacy Act regulations prohibit releasing student information without a signed release of information by the student.

Please contact the KRGA Coordinator at 907-262-0318 for help registering for KRGA classes.

Seats in KRGA courses cannot be resold by anyone. Individuals who come to the first day of the class must be registered for that class and must show a photo ID (driver’s license or other state or federal issued photo identification card) to prove their identity. If they are not registered for that class or if their photo ID does not match the registrant’s information provided at the time of registration they will be asked to leave the course.
