Joyce Carver, Soldotna 1955

Joyce Carver arrived in Soldotna in the early 1950's with spouse, Burton. She was an outstanding first-grade teacher. No kindergarten was provided by territorial schools. A very gracious person, she was a friend to all. She was murdered in the mid-1960s in Anchorage, where she was a student at the time. As of 2008, the crime is still considered unsolved.
