Reading left to right is airstrip land, donated by Binkley, on the Sterling Highway, Kenai River and Funny River airstrip. Buildings reading from right between airstrip and Sterling Highway, include Regers Garage, a bulk fuel plant, Sandstrom's house, Wilsons Store, Gordon Taylor House (occupied by Dr. Isaak) Community Club, Binkley Street. Dale and Meryl Rorrison House, Penn's Hardware, Al and Marilyn Hershberger home, and retail building. Al's Radio and TV, the Chell and Maxine Bear home, Birchwood Apartments (two story), Birch Lane, Mel Carlson Home, Thompson's, Jack and Dolly Farnsworth home, and the Junction of the Sterling highway and the Kenai Spur as it was originally named. Inside the resulting triangle is the Soldotna Y Chevron. Part of this property belonged to the Farnsworth Homestead. Their first station had two manual pumps. Tires were repaired using lug wrenches and pry bars. Crossing to the other side of the Sterling Highway and following down; a building belonging to Frank Mullen which housed the first coin -op laundry and Gagnon's Bake shop. Also seen on same homestead (Mullen) are two cleared fields, and Lingonberry Lane which serves houses along the river. Back to the highway, next large clearing shows the Department of Highways (originally Alaska Road Commission) and their shop buildings. The roof of superintendents home, Ralph Soberg, shows. Soldotna Creek flows into the river below this house. The vegetation color of the creek water contrasts with the glacier green of the river. Next, Nestor's Block Plant and related buildings, then a. rather large area of native growth. A driveway to Alfred Tredricks house (Lawtons log building) and another driveway showing Carvers cabins.
