Early development of the Sterling Highway, Soldotna mid 1960's

View of early development on the Sterling Highway. Pictured, from left, is Vera's Variety Store, the second (concrete block) Wilson's Grocery Store, the frame home of Paul and Amy Isaak (note fence around children's yard), a private garage, and a Petrolane tank truck (part of a propane business operated by Paul Frickey). A gas explosion occurred here in 1968, seriously injuring two residents, Verona Wilson and Vera Howarth.
