Girl Scouts raising the flag
Ruth Sandstrom was girl scout leader. Troop included Rhoda, Barbara and Dorothy Sandstrom, Peggy and Eileen Mullen and Carla Petrovich. Girls made the pole from a spruce tree, then ran the American flag up on lanyard. Picture shows uniformed members and the Sterling Highway, looking east, toward Sterling.
