Rusty Lancashire, Kenai Commercial store, Kenai early 1950's

Pictured is Rusty Lancashire who, once a week, picked up the mail in Kenai and delivered it to Maxine Lee, the postmaster in Soldotna. In the background is the Kenai Commercial store, the first owner of which was Mr. Stephan. The store suffered a major fire on Christmas Eve in 1946. The second owners were Helen and Cecil Jones, who were considered fine proprietors and community members. Signs in the window announces "Hardware-Drugs-Clothing-Notions". Groceries were a main part of the merchandise.
