Soldotna Ski Hill was constructed by Ralph Soberg and the Alaska Road Commission crew, as well as Stan McLane and other members of the Peninsula Sportsmen's Association. It operated with a rope tow, was lit, and a ski shack was built there. This clearing was located on the north face of the ridge between the Sterling Highway and the Ski Hill Road.
