Mary and Francis Mullen with salmon, Soldotna 1960
Francis Mullen (age 10) caught this salmon at Big Eddy and walked home with it over his shoulder (1.5 miles). Passing through the service station at the Y, Jim Porter stopped the boy, questioned him about the catch, and registered him in a salmon derby that was running at the time.
