Chemistry teacher Shirley Denison and student Anna Kay Evans, Kenai 1964

Shirley Denison (now Henley) was the wing-ding chemistry teacher. The principal at the time, Charlie Griffin, fresh from Georgia, banned women teachers from wearing slacks, as well as banning the then popular books about blacks, such as, "Back of the Bus" and "Black like Me."
