Aerial view of housing for the Civil Aeronautics Administration, Kenai 1946

The CAA (Civil Aeronautics Administration), a federal agency, controlled flights on airports and is now known as the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). It was built on a historical site the local Dena'ina natives used known as Skituk'tuk. The housing was on the river bluff with a beautiful view. Young families who lived there were the chief, Larry Lawton and his wife, Lou, aircraft communicators: Joanna Hollier, Harry & Marie Griffiths , Ken & Norma Jordan, and a couple named Pomeroy; tech Frank Hall, his wife Opal; and the mechanic Bruce Wright and his wife Elaine.
