Dinner party at 4 Royle Parker's, Soldotna 1959

The dining room at 4 Royle Parker's bar and café on the Kenai Spur Highway in Soldotna. This establishment was the scene of some very important business transactions before and during the development of the Swanson River oil field. Oil companies certainly had no offices in Soldotna. A dining room off the bar was dubbed the "Board Room", and it truly was a common meeting place. Pictured here in the main dining room are some prominent locals, and the head of the first drilling company, Coastal Drilling, from Bakersfield, California.
