Pomeroy Construction Company, a firm from San Francisco, was the major contractor on what became Wildwood Air Force Station. This station was primarily for communications in the days of the cold war, when White Alice stations rimmed Alaska to sound the alarm in the event of an attack from the Russian Air Force.
