Seward Dock, Seward 1959

All of the freight destined for south central Alaska arrived at the docks at Seward before the 1964 earthquake. Large fuel storage tanks, warehouses and the Alaska Railroad depot kept Seward bustling. As a result of the huge tidal wave and resulting fires from the earthquake, these activities were wiped out. Docking facilities were built in the port of Anchorage and the Alaska Railroad suffered a great decline.
