Dick Hall, Ed Rehder, and Larry Famen at the foundation site for the Homer Electric Association plant, Soldotna 1963

The Homer Electric Association was founded in Homer in the late 1950's. It operated with its own generators at that time. When the Swanson River oil discovery caused a flurry of activity on the central Kenai Peninsula, HEA established offices and shops in Soldotna on the Kenai Spur Highway at about mile 1.5. Photo shows a bit of the foundation. Pictured is Vice President Dick Hall of Soldotna, President Ed Rehder of Homer, an early organizer and employee of the electric utility, and Larry Farnen of Homer, the manager.
