Wellness Wednesdays Logo
Wellness Wednesdays: Community Acupuncture

Every Wednesday, beginning at 5:30 pm at Kachemak Bay Campus, join South Peninsula Hospital's Wellness Program for a free meal of homemade soup and bread and a short presentation, followed by an hour of free yoga at 6:30 pm. This Wednesday, local acupuncturist, Cortney Hartman, will speak about the benefits, structure, and accessibility of community acupuncture and why it is a valuable resource that every community should have. Sample treatments will be offered in the group setting for participants who are interested. At 6:30 pm, Sarah Estabrook will offer Yoga 101 with basic stretches and strengthening poses designed to help you feel, heal, and connect with your true Self. All are welcome to join and explore the transformative power of yoga in a supportive environment.

Irrigation Water Management (IWM) is a tool that incorporates climactic and crop-specific data to best inform when and how much water is necessary to maximize crop productivity while using the minimum amount of water necessary, reducing impacts to the landscape’s natural hydrology. Emily MacDonald and Jesse Hunter from the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) will present irrigation concepts and practices to help farmers become more efficient. Wellness Wednesday: Every Emotion Matters - How Both Positive and Negative Emotions Shape a Full Life

Every Wednesday, beginning at 5:30 pm at Kachemak Bay Campus, join South Peninsula Hospital's Wellness Program for a free meal of homemade soup and bread and a short presentation, followed by an hour of free yoga at 6:30 pm. This Wednesday, Kenai Peninsula College professor of Psychology, Michelle Fellows will describe how emotions play a vital role in our wellness and decision-making and will explore how positive and negative emotions contribute to our humanity and how we can use them to lead fuller, more balanced lives. At 6:30 pm, Sarah Estabrook will offer Yoga 101. All are welcome to join and explore the transformative power of yoga in a supportive environment.

Community Book Discusson: Nexus, a Brief History of Information Networks from the Stone Age to AI

On Thursday, February 6 at 6 pm, Kachemak Bay Campus will launch a series of community discussions based on books selected by staff, faculty, or students, beginning with NEXUS, A Brief History of Information Networks from the Stone Age to AI by Yuval Noah Harari, bestselling author of SAPIENS. Mathematics professor Jeff Johnson will guide the conversation and History professor, Jeff Meyers, and English and Communications professor, Lia Calhoun, will share insights from their disciplines.
