Ralph & Ruth Soberg and home, Soldotna 1954
Ralph & Ruth Soberg standing in front of their home on the Kenai River at Soldotna Creek with Christmas decorations around the doorway. Ralph, born in Norway, & Ruth born in Unga, Alaska, were two powerful community members, and staunch Alaskans. Ralph was the superintendent on the construction of the Sterling Highway and a very likable, outgoing person. He was responsible for the ski hill & ice skating possibilities. Ruth raised two daughters, Jackie & Jeri. Before Ralph's death, Jackie collaborated with him and in 1991 published his books "Survival on Montague Island", "Confessions of an Alaskan Bootlegger", & "Bridging Alaska". Jackie did the same with her mother resulting in a book titled "Unga Island Girl". The house was built in 1954 and is part of Soldotna Creek Park, now occupied by a city employee.
