Joe Kuchta homestead in area of Island Lake Road. Thousands of acres of spruce timber surrounds the Kenai area. A very dry summer, as this year was, makes forest fires inevitable. This fire on the Joe Kuchta ranch north of Kenai was controlled by the Kenai Fire Department.
