Mickey Parker, Soldotna 1967

Mickey Parker of Parker's Bar, Cafe and Motel, mile 1.75 Kenai Spur Highway. Mickey and Royal Parker bought this property from homesteader, Jack Irons. They built over the site of his cabin. They came in (from Nikiski) at the very beginning of the Swanson River oil discovery. Mickey & Royal slaved over their operation, and they even pumped gas. Parker's was the popular eating place, where Mickey cooked, sometimes bringing plates directly from the oven to the table if service was backed up. Always friendly, she was seldom seen without an apron. Photo shows her in a fine gown, jewelry and all.
