Seismograph work at the Kenai National Moose Range, Kenai Peninsula early 1960's

A winter photo of a seismograph unit at work in the Kenai National Moose Range (now Kenai National Wildlife Refuge). Immediately after the Swanson River oil discovery, seismograph companies were hired to explore the area. Long narrow swaths of "cat" tracks criss-crossed the range leaving quite permanent marks. The second unit shows a sizable water tank necessary for high speed drilling.
