Ed Ciechanski and his strawberry harvest, Soldotna early 1950's

This homesteader, Ed Ciechanski, had skills in growing plants. As early as 1949 he would cross the Kenai river in his boat and be seen selling early strawberries in the village of Kenai. He had a ready market as 'fresh' produce was seldom to be found. Seen here smoking a corncob pipe. Original photo can be seen in the Soldotna Homestead Museum.
