Thursday, Septemer 12 at 6 pm, the public is invited to attend the monthly KPC College Council meeting where college leadership reports on KPC programs, initiatives, and strategies, and solicits input from the college council and community members. These meetings are zoom accessible, open to the general public, and take place in person at all three KPC campuses on a rotating schedule. This month the meeting is hosted by the Kenai River Campus, if you would like more information contact Katy Koetitz at kmkoetitz@alaska.edu.

Friday, September 13 at 5:30 PM at Kachemak Bay Campus, MAPP of SKP wants to hear from you about childcare on the Lower Peninsula. This event is open to the public. For more information contact mappofskp@gmail.com.
The first late payment fee of $125 will be assessed at 5:00pm on September 16, 2024 for all students with an outstanding balance for Fall 2024.

On Tuesday, September 17 at noon, join South Peninsula Hospital, in collaboration with local agencies, for a fun-filled afternoon at Kachemak Bay Campus. Participants can expect a presentation on how to use physical and mental exercise as a tool to prevent memory loss with Doctor Ragina Lancaster, lunch, freebies, blood pressure checks, and resources from local organizations, followed by a beginner-level fitness activity! The Division of Public Health will be sharing information about senior vaccination, and Hospice of Homer will be sharing about their healthy aging program! On Thursday, September 19, at 6:00 PM, 49 Writers presents a reading featuring Mieke Eerkens, instructor for the 2024 Tutka Bay Writers Retreat at Kachemak Bay Campus. Eerkens will read from "All Ships Follow Me," a book about her parents’ experiences in WWII and the inheritance of war trauma. She has taught Creative Writing at the University of Iowa, UCLA Extension’s Writers’ Program, Amsterdam University, and Leiden University in The Netherlands, and currently teaches for the Iowa Summer Writing Festival and private workshops. She is currently working on a memoir about her younger years traveling with the circus.

On Thursday, September 26 at 5:00 PM come learn all you need to know to set up an irrigation system for your garden and create a game plan to make water woes a thing of the past. Farmers Carey Restino and Monica Kopp will walk you through the ways they have set up irrigation systems on their farms and brainstorm what would work best in your setting. Friday, September 27 at 6:00 PM, Kachamak Bay Campus for the first event in this series. This interactive session will explore how we form, store, and recall memories, offering practical tips to improve retention and mental clarity. Participants are invited to watch Joshua Foer’s “Feats of Memory” TedTalk in advance.
