Ray Sandstrom, an import (with his spouse and three daughters) from Michigan, was the longtime Alaska Road Commission road grader operator. He was also an outstanding friend, photographer, and father. Art Frisbie, also an Alaska Road Commission employee, was a teller of fine stories. He built a two-story log home on Skilak Lake near the mouth of the Cottonwood Creek trail. A great swimmer, Art eventually moved to the warm waters of Florida. His log structure has since been used as a lodge by various owners.
