Robert J. Mackey and Chell Bear ice fishing at the Mackey cabin, Soldotna 1955

Pictured is the cabin that Robert J (Bob) Mackey built on West Mackey Lake in 1949. Golden fin trout were fished through the ice. Mackey hand-built the three-mile road from the Sterling Highway to his home to enable him to get out to work each day. Standing with Mackey is Chell Bear of Soldotna.
