Housing FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much does housing cost?

$60 application fee and a refundable $300 security deposit will be charged to a student's account after they submit their housing application. At the beginning of each semester, students will be charged a $150 technology fee.

    Housing costs $4,350 per semester.

  • How do I pay for housing?
Housing costs are charged directly to your student account, so students pay for housing the same way they pay their tuition bill.
  • Does my financial aid cover my housing costs?
If you have financial aid, those funds generally can be applied to housing costs in addition to tuition.
  • Who is eligible for housing at KRC?
University of Alaska students taking at least 9 credits are eligible for student housing at KRC.
  • What is the housing application timeline for Spring 2026?
The housing application opens in August and will remain open until all spots are filled. If the application closes, prospective applicants will be placed on a wait list. In November, residence hall staff will review applications and check that applicants are eligible to live on campus. Eligible applicants will then receive their room assignment via email. If spots open for wait listed applicants, residence hall staff will reach out with application instructions.
  • Can I request a specific roommate?
Students have the option to request roommates in the housing application. Roommate requests must be mutual to be considered. Residence hall staff cannot guarantee that all roommate requests will be fulfilled, but we do our best to accommodate residents' preferences.
  • How do I get assistance with housing accommodations for a disability?
Students can email Disability Support Services at krc.dss@alaska.edu to inquire about housing accommodations.
  • Is there a dining hall on campus?
KRC does not have a dining hall on campus, but each apartment features a full kitchen with a refrigerator, oven, microwave, and dishwasher.
  • When can I move in?
The move-in period for Spring 2026 starts on January 8th and ends on January 11th.
  • Who can I contact about other questions?
For other questions or more information, feel free to email our Residence Hall Coordinator, Hunter Moos, at kpc.reshall@alaska.edu or call (907) 262-0254.
