Dorothy Sandstrom is standing on edge of the Sterling Highway, The Kenai Spur Highway can be seen in the background. A Bureau of Land Management helicopter is on the ground. BLM visits were infrequent, but if a child were on the spot, the pilot would take him or her for a short trip in this then-new breed of aircraft.
