Photo taken in the then Columbia Ward Cannery on the south side of the Kenai River. This cannery existed for many years before it could be reached by a road. Kalifornsky Beach road was completed during the 1960's. Here on July 28, a worker lifts a big king onto a butchering table. There was always a lot of cold water running. Employees wore rubber boots and large rubber aprons.
