Academic Advising

Good advising may be the single most underestimated characteristic of a successful college experience.R.J. Light
The advising department is where Kenai Peninsula College students start their educational journey. Our excellent advisors are committed to providing each student with the assistance they need to make their experience at KPC as smooth and successful as possible.

Academic Advising at KPC

All students are strongly urged to see an academic advisor or counselor before registering. KPC's advisors are available to help students determine academic and career goals, select courses, monitor progress toward graduation, understand financial aid and identify resources and support. Students are highly recommended to meet with an advisor at least once a semester prior to registering for courses in order to prevent problems and graduation delays. Be proactive and ensure you are accessing all of the resources available!

At the Kenai River Campus:

Schedule an appointment to meet with a general academic advisor or counselor by calling (907) 262-0383 or toll-free (877) 262-0330 (ask for the counseling and advising department). For a list of faculty advisors for each area of study visit the Areas of Study section of our website.

Please note that the KRC counseling and advising department offers "real-time" office appointments through the Internet or telephone. These appointments are designed to provide information in a timely fashion and for students who wish to talk to a live person without having to visit campus to talk to an academic advisor in person. Students can schedule appointments via FaceTime, Skype or telephone.

*Please note that Counseling and Advising only provide general advising such as applying for admission, completing pre-requisites, interpreting test scores, and transferring credits. After students declare a major, they will be referred to their faculty advisor for continued advising in a degree program.

At the Kachemak Bay Campus:

Students can schedule an appointment with an advisor or take advantage of KBC's convenient walk-in advising option, which is offered daily (M-F) from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. in Student and Enrollment Services' advising office. Students who would like to schedule an appointment or ask questions via telephone or e-mail are encouraged to contact Kim Frost at (907) 235-1658.

At the Anchorage Extension Site:

Process Technology students can schedule an appointment with Lead Program Specialist Lynda Kreps by calling (907) 786-6421

At the Resurrection Bay Extension Site:

RBES students can contact the Kenai River Campus for their advising needs.
