On Thursday, April 10 at 6 PM, join Homer Soil and Water Conservation District and Natural Resources Conservation Service representatives to discuss how to develop a management plan for your forest and tap into programs designed to help you improve your forested acres. On Saturday, April 12 at 10 AM at Kachemak Bay Campus, join District 6 Alaska State House Representative, Sarah Vance for an update about what is happening at the state level. Currently, in her third term, Representative Vance holds pivotal roles in the Alaska State House, serving as the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee and the House Special Committee on Fisheries. Additionally, she serves as the Vice-Chair of the House Transportation Committee and contributes her expertise to the House Special Committee on Tribal Affairs and the Legislative Budget & Audit Committee. Learn practical job skills for becoming a deckhand on any vessel in one weekend at Kachemak Bay Campus in Homer. Includes safety, survival skills, line handling, knots, gear, basic navigation, crew roles, helm, wheelhouse expectations, and more. Scholarships are available through the Homer Marine Trades Association. 16 years and up, 15 years allowed with special permission from instructor.
