Lawrence McGuire's cabin, Soldotna 1951

Lawrence McGuire stands in front of the approximately 12x16 cabin he built of spruce logs. A single man, born in County Donegal, Ireland, he had only recently been naturalized when this photo was taken. McGuire, a WWII veteran, proved up on 160 acres, which included frontage on the Kenai River upstream from the dwelling. Noticeable is a glimpse of the river, his dog and dog house, water bucket, shaving articles on the window sill, and broom neatly hung by the door.
