This post office in Soldotna was built in 1962, and Roberta Tachick was installed as postmaster. The post office contained 500 rented boxes with combination locks. Honored guest at opening ceremony was Alaska U.S. Senator Bob Bartlett. In view on left is Woodford's Clothing Store (later Sweeney's Clothing). In the early 1970's Kenai resident Alex Wilson delivered the rural route from Kenai, Soldotna, Sterling, Kasilof and Clam Gulch. In 2000, the post office building was the site of Columbia Paint.
