Soldotna Elementary School, Soldotna 1965

Pictured here, Soldotna Elementary School shows two additions. Noticeable is the absence of trees. Native forest was leveled by Joe Faa who raised hay & horses. In 2000, a volunteer stand of deciduous trees could be seen. The first principal, from Athens, Georgia, was Charlie Griffen (married to Joyce). Liz Douville was the secretary. Besides Charlie & Joyce, the other teachers were Tommy Jo Corr & Maxine Reger. The school opened with four rooms.
