Billboard for Matanuska Maid products, Matanuska Valley early 1960's

This sign speaks of Matanuska Maid products. At this time the valley was an active farm area, today many of the farms have become subdivisions. The Alaska Railroad carries tons of gravel from these farms, that then become road building material to be used mostly in the Anchorage area. In 2007, Matanuska Maid officially shut down its operation after 71 years of being Alaska's largest dairy.
