Haystacks at Ciechanski homestead, Soldotna late 1950's

This is a great hay operation, and may have been alfala and/or oat hay. This was entirely a hand operation as no machinery was in the area at the time. Shows a scythe, rake and stack haying job, and the Jeep was the family car for many years. Original photo can be seen at the Soldotna Historical Museum.
