Kenai Moose Range sign, Soldotna 1960's
In the early 1940's, 700,000 acres of the Kenai Peninsula were set aside by President Franklin Roosevelt as the Kenai National Moose Range. This was as a result of reports by national and international big-game hunters who found an abundance of these great animals with over 60-inch racks. No game laws were in effect at the time.
