Mouth of the Kenai River, Kenai 1961

View near the mouth of the Kenai River. The vessel on right is a WWII landing craft barge converted to a cannery tender, tender operated as the name implies. They visited the fish sites on the east and west side of Cook Inlet to serve the fisherman who sold to their respective canneries. They not only packed up fish, but took grocery and other supply orders to be delivered on the next "fish" day. Even mail was delivered if the fishermen so chose. Sometimes showers were available on the tender. The building on the far left is the old Northwest Cannery.
